What Is a Cross-Game?

The main characters in the show are each memorable from the four street sisters to Ko’s best pal Daiki. The small ensemble makes the show special. They are able to add the feeling of a persona and ambiance to every scene. They are able to handle themes such as love and death easily, which gives them an additional dimension than one would think of from a shonen show.

What makes Cross Game really stand out is that it knows where to put its focus. Although the characters are well-developed, there is little drama or twists that occur throughout each episode. This lets the viewers fully enjoy the development of the relationships without being overwhelmed by the need for greater emotional tension or a plot constantly trying to surprise viewers with new twists and unexpected cliffhangers. Cross Game is a wonderful film since it avoids all of these issues. The genre could use a lot more of this.
